Viada is one of the main retail sellers of oil products in Latvia. The company has great experience in the Latvian market, and Viada is the only company still operating of those which began in 1990 while Latvia was still part of the Soviet Union. The company started to operate with minimum capital, as was common in the former Soviet Union at that time. Since October 1991 the company has operated under the Viada name and for several years rented gasoline stations from the state.

In 1993 Viada bought in auction its first filling station, and one year later the company had bought six more gasoline stations. All these stations have been renovated and modern filling equipment has been installed.

In 1997-1998 nine more filling stations (FS) were completed in Riga. Thus, at the beginning of 1999 Viada owned thirteen new filling stations as well as seven renovated ones in Latvia.

All filling stations built between 1995-1998 have shops with 3,000 different products and small coffee shops, and from 1997 the company has built filling stations with both automatic and manual car washes. The total value of FS in 1995-1998 was approximately USD 1.3-1.7 millions. All filling stations are situated on main traffic roads, and have modern construction and equipment from Sweden, Germany, Denmark and Finland.

In 1995 Viada, in cooperation with its partner, purchased an oil base in the town of Saldus with a present reservoir volume of 34,000 m3. For transporting oil products, the company has a depot with modern 32-43 m3 oil carriers mounted on Mercedes-Benz and MAN carriers.

Viada is a flexible organisation that quickly reacts to any changes in the market and has a flexible attitude towards existing as well as potential partners. The company will evaluate all offers for cooperation.

Viada has it own debit/credit cards and is working on connections with international major credit card companies. Upon request clients can purchase oil products with coupons. Viada is engaged in both retail and wholesale operations.

In 1997 Viada’s turnover was 31.8 million. The company employs over 200 employees. For several years Viada has been among the 50 highest tax payers in Latvia. The company works with the bank Societe Generale, Riga Branch, Latvia. Viada’s property is insured by the Swedish company Trygg Hansa. In 1995-1996 Viada had an international audit, by Deloitte & Touche, which positively evaluated the results of the internal audit.

The oil products Viada sells in filling stations are imported from Russia (auto fuel Ai-76, Ai-92, Ai-96, diesel), as well as from Western Europe (auto fuel Ai-95, Ai-98).

The company has good relations with Russia and Belarus, having made an agreement to build several FS in some areas on main traffic roads. As Viada personnel have good work experience as well as good knowledge of these countries, the company can provide complete management teams for entering into oil product markets in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus.
