The Green Tankers - Bergesen d.y. Group

The first company within the Bergesen d.y. Group was established in Stavanger in 1935.

Today Bergesen d.y. AS owns and operates one of the world's largest fleets, consisting of 95 vessels and 2 newbuildings.

The company is the world's largest owner and operator of gas carriers in the size range 8,000- 86,000 cbm, and is also the largest independent shipping company in U/VLCC tonnage.

Bergesen has developed a large fleet of well-equipped and maintained vessels, manned by highly trained and experienced crews. This has enabled the company to meet charterers' demands for readily available vessels, flexibility in pricing and reliability in the execution of contracts.

Bergesen intends to maintain its position as a major independent shipping company specializing in the transport of crude oil, liquefied petroleum gas and dry bulk. This will be achieved by maintaining high levels of customer service and building on the group's strong financial position.

Bergesen d.y. AS is listed on the Oslo and London Stock Exchanges. From the beginning of 1986 the foreign ownership interest in the company has increased from nil to approximately 43%.

The main non-shipping subsidiaries are Teknisk Bureau AS, Info Rama ANS and Bergehus AS.

In partnership with Statoil, Bergesen is building a new multipurpose vessel at Samsung Heavy Indutries Co. Ltd. in South Korea. The 103,000 dwt shuttle tanker will be delivered in the second half of 1996.
