Christiania Bank is Norway's second largest commercial bank, and at the end of 1994, had total assets of NOK 114,582 billion. The Group consists of Christiania Bank og Kreditkasse, the parent bank, which is Norway's second largest commercial bank, and the subsidiaries Norske Liv AS (life insurance), K-Finans AS (leasing, factoring and motor vehicle financing), K-Fondene AS (securities funds), Inkassosentralen AS (collecting agency) and the credit institute Vestenfjelske Bykreditt AS and Norgeskreditt AS. The Group has a total of 4,300 employees.

The operative activities are carried out through Christiania Bank's Retail and Commercial Market, Corporate Clients and International divisions. The Retail and Commercial division is responsible for the Group's retail business, and also the small and medium-sized business customer segment. This division also holds the operational responsibility for the bank's 153 offices around the country. The Corporate Clients and international division is responsible for attending to the bank's corporate clients, and for the bank's offices abroad. The bank wants to accompany Norway's business community out into its export markets, and has established offices in Luxembourg, Fuengirola (in Spain), London, New York, Copenhagen, Strømstad (in Sweden), Hamburg and Singapore.

Partly through its own services, and partly through those of its subsidiaries, the bank is in a position to offer a wide range of financial products and services. These are offered through the International Division's branches abroad, or directly through the business areas in Norway. The range of services is made available through business areas which specialise in relation to the various industries/niches within the markets of corporations and major business entities. The niches comprise shipping and transportation, property/capital goods, pulp and paper, energy and natural resources, retailing and consumer goods, capital market, clients and financial institutions. The Christiania Markets Division is also responsible for the bank's foreign-exchange and money-market activities, management functions and capital-market business.

Christiania Bank's activities abroad are to a great extent directed towards those areas/niches where the bank holds special expertise. There are 200 employees in the overseas offices who co-operate with specialists in their fields within the business areas in Norway to provide international banking services to Norwegian and Nordic business communities.
