The Storting, which has 165 members, is elected for a four-year period. During that period it cannot be dissolved, nor can a new election be called, as is the case in many other countries. The Storting is divided into thirteen permanent committees, covering the various main fields of work. In addition to the Prime Minister, the Government comprises 18 ministers.
