Norway During the last 10-15 years, musical life in Norway has completely changed character. One of the reasons for this is that working conditions for major orchestras in larger cities have improved tremendously with the building of concert halls. New conductors have revolutionized the size and quality of Norwegian orchestras in recent years. The best known orchestra internationally is the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra. The Norwegian Chamber Orchestra has also received considerable international attention. Following a guest performance in Paris, under the musical direction of Iona Brown from The Academy of Saint Martin's in the Fields, the orchestra was acclaimed as one of the four best chamber orchestras in the world. The annual Music festival in Bergen is a meeting place for excellent musicians from all over the world. |
