Orkla is one of Norway's largest listed companies and has annual sales of more than USD 4 billion. Approximately 8,000 of the Group's 18,500 employees are employed abroad.

Orkla concentrates its activities on three main areas; branded consumer goods, chemicals and financial investments.

With annual sales of approximately USD 3 billion, branded consumer goods is Orkla's largest area of activity. It comprises a wide range of food products, beverages, confectionery, snacks, biscuits, detergents, cosmetics and personal products. Orkla is the leading Scandinavian supplier of branded consumer goods, with selected positions internationally.

Based on its strong position in Scandinavia, Orkla is looking to Southeast Asia and China to expand its activities in the branded consumer goods area, primarily within food and beverages. Operating from its subsidiary in Singapore, Orkla is in the process of developing its business in Asia. Orkla can provide broad technological know-how and resources and excellent marketing skills.

Orkla's Chemicals area is represented by Borregaard, a chemicals company with production plants in 11 countries and sales companies in Europe, North America and Asia. Borregaard has 2,500 employees and sales of USD 800 million. Borregaard has strong global positions within selected niches of organic chemicals and speciality pulp. The company's core business areas include speciality chemicals, fine chemicals, speciality pulp and food and feed ingredients. A considerable part of Borregaard's sales revenues comes from Asia.

Borregaard is the majority owner of a fine chemicals company in Jiangsu province, China, producing crop protection chemicals. In Singapore a laboratory for technical customer support has been established. Borregaard has its own sales offices in Singapore, Japan and China.

Orkla's Financial Investment area owns one of Norway's largest securities portfolios. Orkla's extensive investment activity provides a broad understanding of, and contact network in, Norwegian and international financial markets.
