The Nordic Countries

The Nordic Countries and Europe
The Nordic countries recognize the need for active participation in the shaping of a united Europe. Sweden and Finland joined the European Union in 1995, Denmark has been a member for several years, so only Norway, Iceland and the autonomous regions (Greenland, the Faroe Islands) stand outside the EU.

Co-operation with Europe is considered an integral part of Nordic collaboration rather than an alternative, and the best way to ensure an order of peace, co-operation and the future development of the Nordic countries.
