The Nordic Countries

The Nordic Council of Ministers
The Nordic Council of Ministers was established in 1971. It represents the five member states as well as the three autonomous territories.

Each government appoints one of its members to serve as a Minister for Co-operation. The Prime Minister of each government holds direct responsibility for the political guidelines and the co-ordination of Nordic collaboration. The Minister for Co-operation is to assist the Prime Minister in these areas.

The decisions reached by the Council of Ministers are binding on the member states subject to ratification by the member state's parliament. All decisions must be unanimous.
