The Agricultural Institute of Slovenia is the oldest research institution in Slovenia. It was founded in 1898 and in this one hundred year period, its operations have included research, professional and development - promotional work.

Mlekarna Celeia, a limited liability company, was the first dairy company in Slovenia to carry through the process of privatization. It is owned by twenty-two agricultural cooperatives, the Agricultural Cooperative Investment Fund, the Agricultural Management Investment Fund, and to a lesser extent by its employees.

Pivovarna Union was founded in 1864 and has ever since been Slovenia's leading producer of beers. Production line includes f.ex.: three different light beers, dark beer, mixed beer (a mix of beer and lemonade), alcohol-free beer, a range of carbonated soft drinks and range of still soft drinks. Products of Pivovarna Union are exported world wide.
