IBE, Consulting Engineers is the largest independent consulting engineering company in the Republic of Slovenia. Its business services include design, engineering and expert advice rendered to domestic as well as foreign clients.
IBE is a joint stock company with major legal share of present and former employees and with minor share of the authorised investment company and institutional funds.
Technical and organisational knowledge accumulated in over 49 years of professional engagements represents a solid stand that enables the professionals of IBE to master the expert tasks in energy, industry, ecology and infrastructure.
IBE is a member of NACES - National Association of Consulting Engineers of Slovenia, which, in turn, is a member of FIDIC and EFCA. The company is also registered with the World Bank, European Bank for Development and Reconstruction (EBDR), United Nations - UNIDO and European Union - PHARE program.
The company pays a great deal of attention to the quality of services it renders and is a holder of the ISO 9001 Quality Certificate.
Energy Field
From the period of its foundation in 1949 till now, IBE has designed and participated in the construction of the majority of power generation units in Slovenia such as:
hydropower plants
on the Drava, Sava and Soca rivers,
HV networks of all
voltage rates up to 400 kV including member ancillary transformer stations,
thermal power
plants in Sostanj and Trbovlje, Cogeneration Power Plant in Ljubljana, Combined Cycle
Power Plant in Brestanica, and numerous industrial cogeneration power plants,
Krsko Nuclear
Power Plant,
control and automation of the Slovenian Electric Power ystem.

Industry and Infrastructure
Industry plays an important role in IBE line of business. Experiences and references
of the company relate to various industrial sectors from wood processing to the chemical,
pharmaceutical, car and food industries. Design and engagement in the construction of gas
grid and conceptual designs for district hot water and steam grids represent a significant
part of the company’s services in infrastructure field. The company’s engagements were also
remarkable in the national road program (tunnel design, highway toll bars and road junctions
with line conductors).
Environmental Protection
IBE addresses environmental concerns and issues through interrelated working areas. The first field also covers expert advice in terms of elaboration of studies required by the investment procedures. Expert tasks within the subject scope cover studies on technologies and processes, introduction of measures on efficient energy use and environmental impact assessment analysis, environmental audit as well as elaboration of expert studies and accompanying services. The second IBE working area within environmental protection is based on a thorough knowledge of technologies to materialize the projects that support sound environmental development. Within this scope fall the projects of waste water treatment, flue gas treatment and waste disposal.
Services
Experts of IBE are engaged in all mentioned lines of business throughout the whole investment process covering research and feasibility studies, design, supervision as well as taking over and commissioning. In all subject activities, IBE experts act on behalf of the clients or suppliers depending on the project concept. The scope of services rendered to foreign clients has increased in the past two years. Foreign clients such as consulting engineering companies and large contractors have awarded to IBE the implementation of design as well as construction supervision services.
Organisation
The organisational structure of IBE consists of the departments of Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Technology, and Electrical Engineering. Project teams implement complex project tasks by using the matrix principle to successfully complete a project.
With its home office in Ljubljana, IBE has branch offices in Maribor, Slovenj Gradec and Krsko.
IBE has a staff of 260 employees. The majority of them hold bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees in technical sciences (civil, electrical and mechanical engineering), economics, business and law.
