About us

Iskrateling is a private Slovene company located in Kranj, twenty kilometers from Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. We also have a representative office in Moscow and are present on the other side of the Urals as well, in Yekaterinburg where we are joint owners of Iskrauraltel, a company that manufactures digital exchanges.

We believe that the company’s greatest assets are the collective knowledge and skill of our forty-seven employees and our hundreds of satisfied clients.

Our engineers and sales people gained a great deal of experience and knowledge in the past as employees of the Iskra Corporation, which has a fifty-year tradition in the production and sale of telecommunications equipment. All Iskrateling employees are required to attend regular education programs to improve their knowledge of applied and general sciences. The company’s success is based on the high qualifications of its personnel and on their capability to respond promptly to changes in the market. The result of this approach is that more than 50% of our employees have university degrees.

On the market

Iskrateling began operations in 1989 and has since achieved success with the help of experience gained in the domestic market, where our major clients were the electric energy sector, the army, and the police, and to a lesser extent in foreign markets, chiefly the Russian market and the markets of former Soviet Union countries.

In 1997, we generated over eighteen million German marks in sales revenue, or about twice as much as in 1990. In this respect, it must be pointed out that the company’s operations are marked by cycles, each lasting approximately two years. Iskrateling’s 1996 sales were twice those of 1997, and judging from the orders received, the trend is expected to move upwards again in 1998. The company’s profits, which stood at 31 million Slovene tolars in 1997, will therefore rise in 1998. In a good business year, the company’s exports make up seventy to eighty percent of its total sales.

The company has been most successful on the huge Russian market where the number of its clients is increasing every year despite strong competition. However, the Russian market is not the only one of interest. Now that the war in the Balkans is over, the company is returning to Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the latter, it is also setting up local production. We are also marketing our products in The Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Poland, Turkey, and other European countries.

Products and Strategic alliances

Iskrateling offers companies and institutions a wide variety of telephone switchboards ranging from the smallest to those with capacities up to 10,000 or more subscribers. More than half of all telephone switchboards installed in Slovenia are the result of our efforts and experience, either directly or through our authorized distributors.

Using its products and services, the company is upgrading ISDN telephone exchanges to the SI2000-VEGA system, the fruit of Slovene know-how. Because of the nature of the SI2000-VEGA system, Iskrateling has so far dealt primarily with telephone exchanges in corporate networks with high capacity PBX telephone exchanges. Owing to our long experience and expert knowledge, we have been able to supply more than 4000 clients in fifteen countries who presently employ around 680,000 telephone lines.

Strategic alliances and joint ventures are an essential part of our plans for continued growth, both at home and abroad. Abroad, we look for long-term opportunities on which to build rather than short-term returns. We are currently partnered with industry leaders such as Iskratel, SDX, Ascom, ITK, Siemens, and others in a variety of telecommunication alliances.
