Kovinotehna d.d. Celje is an international trading company based in Celje, at the junction of trade routes between the West, the East and the Balkans. Its roots date back to 1810, when businessman Daniel Rakusch began developing a wholesale ironmongers. It has been operating under the name Kovinotehna since 1954, and has been registered as a joint stock company with known owners since 1995.

Kovinotehna’s main activities are wholesale and retail trade at home and abroad.

Kovinotehna’s retail network consists of 9 sales centres, 12 specialist technical shops and 25 franchise units. They are stocked through wholesale market units, which are extended by business centres with strong networks of travelling salesmen in Ljubljana, Maribor, Celje and Izola.

Kovinotehna is also active beyond the borders of Slovenia. We operate in most countries of southern and eastern Europe with our activities and rich wholesale and retail commercial experience.

All of this is rounded off by subsidiaries in Slovenia and abroad, and by services (engineering, information technology, storage and transport).

In 1998, Kovinotehna signed a five-year exclusive contract with the well-known American firm Sears, one of the leading trading companies in the world. Through the contract, Kovinotehna became the exclusive distributor of the internationally renowned trademarks Craftsman (tools), Kenmore (white goods), and Diehard (batteries) for Slovenia and the whole of eastern Europe.
