LIP Bled - wood processing company

LIP Bled is based in Bled, a world renowned alpine resort surrounded by the high peaks of the Julian Alps and the Karavanke Mountains and the richly forested plateaus of Pokljuka, Mezakla, and Jelovica. Forestry, sawmills, and the wood processing industry have a long and rich tradition in this part of Slovenia.

Established on May 17, 1948, LIP Bled is one of the heirs to this tradition, and in the past fifty years of its development it has grown into one of the largest and most successful wood processing companies in Slovenia.

In the beginning, the company produced raw lumber but in the 1960’s also began manufacturing finished products such as construction plywood and several types of doors. Over the years, the production program expanded and today includes:

interior doors (plain, classic, Design) and frames famous for their high quality veneer, the best solid wood construction, attractive surface patterns, and attractive soft edges;
house and garage doors made of solid wood with various combinations of glass, design, and surface patterns and with an emphasis on security;
bedroom, dining room, and youth room suites made from various types of solid wood such as spruce, red alder, beech, and pine and finished with environmentally-friendly materials;
waterproof construction plywood made from three strongly glued layers of wood; and many more supplementary products

LIP Bled is a joint-stock company consisting of the following units:

the Recica door and frame factory
the Bohinj paneling and furniture factory
the Mojstrana entrance door factory
the Head Office in Bled, headquarters for administration and other centralized departments such as marketing, sales and purchasing, accounting, etc.
exhibition sales halls in Bled and Murska Sobota.

More than 900 people are employed by LIP Bled, and the company boasts an annual turnover of around 70 million DEM.

Approximately 75% of LIP Bled’s production is exported, mainly to the demanding markets of Western and Central Europe. The most significant foreign trade partners of LIP Bled come from Germany (approximately 45% of all sales), followed by Austria, Italy, and markets in the former Yugoslavia. Some 25% of our production is sold on the domestic Slovene market to which LIP Bled has recently devoted increasing attention. The company has also been striving to establish new business relations with other European countries as well as with more distant prospective markets.

The current world trade situation and increasing competition have dictated that the company constantly be in step with contemporary European and world trends, introduce improvements in production, and develop new products that meet contemporary demands. For this reason, LIP Bled invested in a new production line for doors in 1997 and became the only Slovene manufacturer of rounded interior doors, its “Soft Line” series.

High quality and durable products have always been and still are the byword for all LIP Bled products and services, and the company has received numerous Slovene and international awards. At the moment, final efforts toward the acquisition of the ISO 9001 certificate of quality for the entire firm are in progress.
