Situated in the heart of Europe, at the junction of the international trade routes, it serves the region with an enormous economic potential and thus represents an ideal Logistic & Distribution centre for Central and Eastern Europe.

An additional advantage of the Port of Koper is that it lies on the shortest transport route, linking commercial centres in Central and Eastern Europe with Mediterranean countries and the Far East. Sea routes from here are over 2000 nautical miles closer to these waterways than northern European ports. The basic activities of the Port of Koper are performed by eleven specialised and highly efficient terminals for handling various types of goods such as general cargo (coffee, cacao, metals & non-metals, iron, paper, wood and other products etc.), fruits & vegetables, livestock, containers, cars & RO-RO, timber, dry bulks, ores & coal, liquid cargo, alumina, cereals. All terminals are located alongside the berths and are equipped with up-to-date loading, transport and storing technology. All of them are directly linked to the railway. At each terminal special warehouse facilities are available: silo, shore-tanks, air-conditioned and deep-freezing storage areas, etc.
Besides its basic activities it offers numerous additional services, which increase the value of the goods, prepare them for immediate sale, protect them or change their form for transport.

The Port of Koper offers a wide variety of cooperation possibilities, as the entire Port of Koper region has been given Free Trade Zone status. Users of the Free Trade Zone can store, process or handle goods in the Zone. It also offers the possibility of developing different industrial, trade or other operations. Furthermore, it is possible to lease warehouses, business or production facilities, or land for the construction of production facilities and warehouses. The only condition concerning production or service activities introduced into the Zone is that they are not environmentally unsafe or harmful to human life.
The Port of Koper is gradually preparing more than 1.000 hectares of available land and allocate it to the development of consignment and distribution activity.
