Looking for hotels in Slovenia?
Mariborske Lekarne was designated a public institute in 1962 by a resolution of the Municipality of Maribor. The good business sense of the institute’s managers, and a timely identification of needs and possibilities, facilitated the development of the institute. Today the institute employs 207 people:
The dispensaries supply the public with medicines and other medical supplies. Nine dispensaries in the city are open during the day and there is also a duty dispensary open at night and on Sundays and public holidays. In this way we ensure that people in the city and its environs always have access to medicines. The dispensaries provide a public service and create approximately 55% of the institute’s total revenue. Special attention is paid to the maintenance of the dispensaries, the modernisation of equipment, and staff training. Farmadent is our wholesale division. Competition with other similar organisations in Slovenia is constantly increasing. We are striving to preserve our market share in the provision of medical supplies to medical institutions and concessionaries. Farmadent has to be able to adapt to circumstances - various clients and professional orientations and there are even considerable political complications. We believe that professional knowledge and general intelligence are not enough by themselves, and that emotional qualities in communication are even more important. The pharmaceutical laboratory produces the necessary raw materials for the dispensaries and manufactures other traditionally essential medicines. We are making increasing efforts towards the production of our own medicines, prepared with our own experience and know-how. This gives the laboratory the opportunity to develop and register its own products. |

Successful promotion of these products can lead to an important increase in the institute’s revenue. The institute is run collectively. Employees are motivated by encouragement to participate in management. We try to maintain a low profile, preferring to believe that seeing success is the best way to make employees feel a sense of belonging to the institute. Director of the institute: Mr. Lovro Dermota, dip. pharm. |
