The history of PAP Telematika dates back to 1914 when a signal workshop for the Southern Austro-Hungarian Railways was established at the company’s present location. During its existence the company has gone through numerous transformations.

Over the last six years, we have witnessed major personnel and organizational changes, the restructuring and expansion of activities, and the transformation into a joint-stock company, all of which have greatly improved our operations and above all resulted in good business results.

Today, PAP Telematika is a medium-sized company with around 240 employees that favours the development of new products and services. Our basic aim is to develop as a joint-stock company that will satisfy the interests of its stockholders on the basis of sound economic relations with all our business partners.

PAP Telematika, d.d., is quality-oriented company and received the ISO 9001 certificate of quality in 1997.

Organization of the Company

PAP Telematika is a modern joint-stock company organized in three divisions: Telecommunications, Automation, and Satellite Systems.

Common functions such as business finance, accounting, the personnel department, the legal department, and investments are carried out in the company’s administrative services department on the basis of a planned annual budget.

Aware of the exceptional importance of development activity, PAP Telematika has organized a special department for strategic development and marketing in which all the skills and know-how of our engineering personnel are united.

Marketing

The company is now ready to face competition as an equal participant in a market governed by fierce competition, even in those areas where until recently we had the advantage of being the sole contractor, practically a monopoly.

We must, of course, produce only products that are competitive on the world market, not an easy task, especially in the field of electronics. For a medium-sized company like PAP Telematika, the only possibility is to develop professional services and specialized products that are usually not of interest to larger companies because of the limited market.

International Relations

Cooperation with foreign partners enables us to be part of the international division of labour and to qualify for entering among the developed systems of the West on equal terms.

PAP Telematika acts as an agent in Slovenia for the following foreign companies: Kapsch Vienna, Austria; Kabelovna Dezin-Podmokly, Czech Republic; ESSCO (Electronic Space System Corporation) United Kingdom; RACAL Recorders, United Kingdom; and ECS Vienna, Austria.

PAP Telematika has also concluded cooperation agreements with the following companies outside Slovenia: Societe Europeenne des Satellites, Betzdorf, Luxembourg (the owner of Astra satellites); TechniSat Daun, Germany; and AZD Prague, Czech Republic.
