The international firm UNIOR developed from a millennium-long blacksmithing tradition. The simplest items forged in the first blacksmith shops required great toil by the peasants and foresters here in the Pohorje foothills.

The foundry built in the town of Zrece in 1919 by the Styria Iron Company was the forerunner of today’s UNIOR. This was the first attempt to capitalize on the thousand-year-long ironworking tradition of the local craftsmen on a truly industrial scale.

Today, UNIOR is among the largest foundry operations in Slovenia and ranks among the bigger ones in Europe as well. A wide range of products and a long-standing reputation for quality are the foundations of UNIOR’s success. UNIOR manufactures and sells its products on every continent under its own trademark.

Company activities

Forgings are our largest operation and produce items exclusively for the most prominent European automobile manufacturers. Our precisely forged and sintered parts are of vital importance in various branches of industry.

Hand tools are our best-known program. We pride ourselves on making tools of all types and purposes, primarily for the professional user. Forged from high quality carbon and alloy steels, UNIOR tools are ranked among the highest quality in Europe and around the world. We manufacture open end, ring end, and combination wrenches, socket sets, pliers, grip pliers, screwdrivers, bits, hammers, shears and tin snips, pipe wrenches and cutters, bolt cutters, electronic pliers, punches and chisels, pullers, VDE insulated tools, tool sets, and metal storage products.

Our Tourism program developed due to the extraordinary features of the surrounding area.

The Terme Zrece Health Resort was built near a source of thermal water in Zrece. Indoor and outdoor swimming pools combined with its medical facilities ensure relaxation and recuperation year round.

The Rogla Health Resort at 1517 meters above sea level is a tourist recreation center and one of the largest ski resorts in Slovenia.

With its facilities for recreation, training, and relaxation, it is a favourite destination together with the thermal spa in the valley below for sport teams from many countries as well as for numerous other visitors and tourists.
