Five decades ago, soon after the end of World War II, Velana Ljubljana began to grow from a small manufacturer into today’s modern company with three hundred employees. Production at Velana is based on the manufacture of woven and knitted curtain materials that we bleach, colour, fireproof, and print. We also produce ready-made curtains.

Jacquard and other multipurpose decorative fabrics make up our most exclusive line of materials.

In the manufacture of curtain materials, we primarily use polyester yarns that are the most suitable for manufacturing curtains and for simplicity of care. However, to meet the demands of fashion and marketing trends, for several years we have gradually begun to include natural fibers such as linen, cotton, and viscose in some of our products. We use natural fibers in combination with polyester to achieve quality, ease of maintenance, and a new offer in room furnishings. Thus we are able to satisfy those customers for whom the “natural” look is of major importance.

Our production process is a closed cycle that includes preparing the yarns, knitting, weaving, and finishing the curtain material.

Our collection is marketed under the trade name “Velana” and includes samples from 30 to 300 centimeters in width. In addition to the standard collection, our production program also includes curtain materials specially made for our regular customers throughout Europe, and thus our range of patterns has greatly increased.

The majority of our patterns are the result of the work and skill of our own experts who carefully follow fashion trends at home and abroad.

Our decorative fabrics satisfy the most demanding and discriminating customers who want their living and working environments decorated in the highest standards of taste.
In 1996, Velana Ljubljana produced eight million square meters of curtain material, approximately one half knitted and one half woven. Of this, close to one million square meters were ready-made curtains.

In 1996, a quarter of our production was sold in Slovenia while the remainder was exported to Germany, Austria, Great Britain, The Netherlands, Italy, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, and nineteen other countries.

We exhibit our products at home and abroad. For several years, we have had an independent exhibition at Europe’s largest specialized home furnishings fair, Frankfurt’s Heimtextil, where we have successfully competed with the world’s major producers of curtain materials.
