Goteborg has a central location between Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm and is an important commercial hub. It has the largest port in Scandinavia, an international airport and a road and rail network which links the Goteborg region and Scandinavia with regions in Europe and the rest of the world. The telecommunications system is one of the most sophisticated in the world. The location, combined with top-class communications and advantageous transport and distribution facilities, makes Goteborg the gateway to Scandinavia with its 23 million inhabitants. The region is characterised by its high level of expertise and quality, its versatility, its high productivity, its international orientation, its vital corporate climate - and, last but not least, the collaboration between trade and industry, local authorities and organisations. Some of Scandinavia's most famous industrial enterprises originated in Goteborg and have their head offices here. The level of research intensity is high within the commercial sector and at the University of Goteborg and the Chalmers University of Technology. The many joint research projects also characterise the region, as does the interest in experimentation and renewal. Goteborg has a well-educated work force with top-class language skills.
Goteborg is well-established as a trade fair and congress city. The congress
and trade fair facilities are among the most modern in Scandinavia and are
located in the city centre. Property and energy prices, as well as payroll overheads and corporate taxation, are low compared with the rest of Europe. More Information about Goteborg.
